Arvada has one of the largest public skateparks in the United States, and most people who drive past it on West 72nd have no idea. For a coach that is a gift: enough concrete that a nervous adult or a five-year-old never has to share a line with someone dropping into a bowl.
We meet at a park that is best for your learning level. In Arvada that usually means the big park by the Apex Center, with the city's smaller neighborhood skate spots as an option for very first sessions.

Arvada Skate Park
Beginner to advanced12920 W 72nd Ave, Arvada, CO 80005
Our Arvada home base, just east of the Apex Center. Over 40,000 square feet, built by Team Pain and opened in 2012. Beginners start on the flat and mellow street terrain; the bowls wait until pushing, turning and stopping feel automatic.
Tell us your level — or that you have no idea — and we choose the park and the section of it that fits. Beginners start on flat ground away from traffic, every time.
02
Gear check first
We size your board and pads before anyone rolls an inch, and adjust trucks and wheels if something's fighting you. Bring your own gear if you have it; tell the coach ahead of time if you don't.
03
One skill per session
Pushing, turning or stopping — we drill one thing until it's automatic rather than touching six things badly. That's how progress actually sticks.
04
You leave with homework
Every session ends with one or two things to practise on your own, so the time between lessons keeps paying off.

What skating in Arvada is actually like
Size means space to learn
Crowds are the number-one thing that scares beginners away from skateparks. A park this large spreads riders out, so a lesson can run on its own patch of concrete without feeling watched.
Neighborhood skate spots for day one
Arvada also runs small skate spots at Memorial, Wolff and Skyline parks. For an anxious first-timer, a short session on a tiny spot can be a better start than the big park.
Riders come to us from Olde Town Arvada, Candelas, Ralston Valley, West Woods and everywhere in between.
Arvada spotlight
One of the biggest skateparks in the country, right off 72nd
Arvada Skate Park next to the Apex Center covers more than 40,000 square feet of Team Pain concrete. That size is the point for a lesson: there is always a quiet corner for a first-timer while experienced riders use the bowls.
Big enough to find calm terrain at almost any hour
Free public park, open sunrise to 10pm per the city
Easy pairing with Golden and Broomfield for progression trips
Arvada Skate Park at 12920 W 72nd Ave, just east of the Apex Center, is our main Arvada location. First-timers start on the flat and mellow street terrain.
Is the Arvada park too big for a beginner?
No. The size actually helps — there is room to learn away from experienced riders. We stay on beginner terrain until you are ready.
Do I need my own board and helmet?
Plan to bring your own gear. If you don't have any yet, let the coach know ahead of time and we'll help you pick the right setup.
